Question: by only visualising remembering is a little bit difficult so can you suggest any other method - Pragnya Paramita

Answer: Yes visualization requires a little effort and you may not be able to visualize all the information you need to remember.

A combination of various methods should be used to remember facts that are important from examination point of view.

Repetition improves memory

By doing the same activities everyday, for example, wearing our shirt, we make an impression on our mind and the activities are done automatically. If I stop you and ask, which hand goes in first in the shirt sleeves - right or left - many may need to think for a while before replying. So you prepare a mind map of whatever you read, and look at the major points once every day. Use colors and different pictures in the mind map, that will make a deeper impression on your mind.

Repetition with a rhyme and rhythm improves memory

There are different ways of repeating things. We remember jingles from ads and tunes of our favorite songs and at times we find them replaying in our mind without our conscious effort. So any two things that go together can be repeated in a sing song manner to make an impression on our mind.

Using Mnemonic Techniques

Creating mnemonic expressions - example Vibgyor for the colors of the rainbow - helps us remember lists of things. In this case Vibgyor does not mean anything, it is not a meaningful word - still we find it easy to remember than the order Violet, Indigo, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red - though these are meaningful words. So you can easily create a word or expression that helps you remember lists of things.

There are many more ways that do not require visualization.

If you send me a bit of detail you want to remember, I can show you a way to create a memory aid for it.
